What to expect
Starting a role in aviation is different from most industries. Because you’ll be working in a secure environment regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority, there are additional checks that must be completed before you can begin work.
This process can take time, but with the right preparation and support, you can move through it smoothly. Our team is here to guide you at every stage.
The process at a glance
1. Apply to a job on our website
Apply to one of the open job vacancies! You can apply to any of our live vacancies on our website, or you may have applied from a job board like Indeed or CV Library.
One of our Recruitment Consultants will then review your application and get in touch. If your application is successful, one of our team will schedule a quick call to go over the role in more detail.
Please note that you must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as our vacancies do not offer visa sponsorship.
2. Registration and initial document checks
After a successful call, you’ll be invited to complete your registration with us, including some key details and document checks, such as your proof of ID. You may be invited to come to one of our UK branches in-person, or you may be asked to submit your documents to an online portal.
3. 5-year history submission
Once you are registered, you’ll be invited to fill-in your 5 year employment or education history using some of our vetting software: either EBC Global or Vetting Gateway. You will be invited by email, and you can start filling in your profile straight away. You will need to include reference details and disclose any overseas work or travel, or gaps in employment or education for 28 consecutive days or more.
4. Vetting and referencing
Once we have your 5 year history, we’ll begin contacting your referees and carrying out the required checks. You will also need to apply for a criminal record check, such as a UK DBS certificate, if you don’t already have one.
5. Training
Depending on your role, you may have to undergo some short online training, such as Cargo Operative, GSAT or Gatwick Airside training.
6. Clearance and start date
Once all checks and training are complete, you’ll be cleared to start work and we’ll confirm your start date! You will need to pick-up your airside pass from the Airport ID Centre in-person, before your first day of work.
We’ll support you throughout
We understand that the process can feel long, especially if you’re new to aviation. That’s why we stay in close contact throughout, helping you understand what’s required and keeping you updated on your progress.
Our aim is to get you into work as quickly as possible, while we take care of all of the legislative requirements.
